A new month. A new plan.
Having taken it recently back to the drawing board, I came to the conclusion that although turtle medicine has been a valuable skill to explore, it does very little good when lacking the keen eyesight of eagle medicine.
How ironic (in that most perfect of painful hilarity) to stumble across this nice little Monday mashup gem just as I sit down to tell you all about my latest discovery.....
The Beatles - Baby You're Flying (Rhythm Scholar Mashup / Remix) by Rhythm Scholar
In gaining a new vision of Turtle I was given another piece of the puzzle, a daily meditation of sorts, to focus not only on Turtle but to begin harnessing that force in a direct and forward motion. The past is nothing more than past. No amount of work can undo, change, alter or otherwise affect even the tiniest portion of the past. To live with one eye turned behind, well it seems to me to be merely a way to keep oneself locked into old patterns. Evolution is the breaking of old patterns to create something new, “endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful” as Darwin put it so poetically. I am an evolutionary being, or so I like to tell myself, what good is it doing me holding on to past joys and pains if it only creates a prejudged future? Obviously fire burns and that is a lesson worth learning only once. But there is quite a difference between walking on coals and playing with fire. Sometimes the burn can be a practice to evolve beyond.
How, you ask, does the mashup have anything to do with this self realization and what is this new plan? Well, I am not a great fan of the pop culture spoon fed to me during my formative years. In fact I have spent a good deal of time taking steps to remove those images and songs from my mind so to come across one of those songs reworked in a way I could appreciate gave me reason to pause and reflect.
Perhaps all these years I have been focusing on my past, sifting out what I wanted to identify with from what I wanted to free myself from, perhaps it's time to finally simply let it all fall away. Allow it to be picked up by the cosmic winds of the ages and be gone in order to face each new day with an open perspective. Forward.
